Yes, this is a very helpful thing to do! It would also be helpful to
add wording to the effect:
"...starting your summary with a succinct description of your problem"
which people usually forget to do, and which creates a lot of work for
the reader in trying to understand the summaries.

For those not familiar with mailing list, this is not obvious. People who are used to dealing with newsgroups, or compustat forums, might not know to do this. Another source of confusion for these people is the way the messages appear in the mailbox. Sometimes a message from the S list server appears as if it is from an individual. Other times a message from an individual might appear as if it is from the mail server because the subject has the [S] in it.
