The December Issue of PM Network Magazine offers tips on using the
soon-to-be-released Project Management Software Survey to pick good
tools. Since there has been a lot of discussion of project management,
tools, and the plans for evolution of our own Project Database, I wanted
to share the gem of the article:

The process to use in selecting project management software looks a lot
like our Discovery Process:

* State thebusiness problem
* State improvement objectives
* Document or reengineer the project management process
* Map the project management procee to the appropriate category of software
* Generate a requirements list
* Select the short list
* Test it yourself
* Decide

I think keeping the PMI advice in mind as we charter our own Discovery
process in project management and tools will be VERY helpful.
