1. make entering task lists easier
in entering three new projects last week, one of the irritations was putting
in four to seven tasks.
First, adding a task can only be done one at a time. And each time you get
a large "update page" that includes almost everything in the project,
instead of just a "new task" page.
Second, what you are allowed to add is the name of the person and the task
name. If you want to add schedule information (target date, completion
date, or the three-point estimates), you have to go back to the updated
project page, find tasks again, and use the modify button on each individual
task.
By the time I struggled through getting a task list in, I was frustrated
enough that I shouldn't be allowed to enter any schedule information. So I
stopped.
Is there a reason that we can't let a person effectively say "I am entering
tasks" and then give them pages that let them put in an entire task
repeatedly?
2. make updating quarterly information easier
in a similar way, when someone is updating quarterly information, it would
be really nice if they could say "I'm updating quarterly information" and
have the database present them with just that information to update, for
each of their projects. I know we force fitted the quarterly information in
late, but I think making it easier to update just that information will help
encourage use.
