ARACHNE disk is fixed - system not usable tho

The ARACHNE system had a failure of a disk drive [power supply] on one of
the external Falcon units. The FE came in and replaced the external box and
power supply [switching the HDA to the new box]. The system booted OK, but
when I log in, I get "too many processes" and "unable to fork" messages
indicating that something is running amuck. I can't even do a 'ps'.
The last time this happened, it was part of the BRL code that was spawning
infinite processes, so my initial guess is that the same thing is happening.
The system is currently up with a local console attached to it.
If I don't her back from anyone I'll play around it with it some more later.
