on my local netscape, looking at Options->Security Options->Site
Certificates->arachne.mit.edu, I get...
This Certificate belongs to:
arachne.mit.edu
Information Systems
Massachusetts Institute of
Technology
Massachusetts, US
This Certificate was issued
by:
MIT Certification Authority
Massachusetts Institute of
Technology
Massachusetts, US
Serial Number: 00:83
This Certificate is valid from Fri Aug 15, 1997 to Wed Feb
11, 1998
Certificate Fingerprint:
9E:BD:0A:7C:51:7A:5F:55:A0:27:96:24:EB:53:DD:BA
so my local certificate is expired...
and when delete my local one and go to Arachne, I get
arachne.mit.edu is a site that uses encryption to protect
transmitted information. However the digital Certificate that
identifies this site has expired. This may be because the
certificate has actually expired, or because the date on your
computer is wrong.
The certificate expires on Wed Feb 11, 1998.
Your computer's date is set to Wed Feb 18, 1998. If this date
is incorrect, then you should reset the date on your
computer.
You may continue or cancel this connection.
So the remote one is expired, also!
however, experimentally, saying continue and then working with the db
is okay. I guess expired security is just a warning...
