It doesn't. It simply provides an API that many developers feel is
friendlier than the original undocumented MIT method. The API mimics the
UMich Authman work for the Mac.

If anyone is working on a freely available GSS API implementation for 
Windows and the Mac I would love to hear about it. The same goes for a 
Kerberos V5 implementation. 

MIT does intend to make sure that these are available. We are still deciding
on how this will be accomplished.  I am not speculating on when this will be
available.
