| Last year we just used a simple desk flag which I have. I
| think having a flag is a good idea because it shows we aren't
| anarchists or USA-haters or weirdos. Having a really big flag,
| however, might obscure our Libertarian banner. Also, it might turn off
| people. Let's face it, if I saw a table with a big flag, I would think
| "Must be the MIT Republicans" and not even bother looking.
Yeah, a really big flag would look *too* patriotic. I think most MIT
students, even the strongly pro-American ones, are turned off by mindless
flag-waving.
Why not get a "Don't Tread on Me" flag? That would be cool (heh-heh, heh-heh)
and would attract more attention.
| To be
| quite honest, the most important thing is to have the bowl of candy be
| visible. People stop to ask if they can have some candy,
So you attract members by being SOCIALIST? :-)
Just kidding...
Reminds me of the time I walked out of Lobby 7, having just picked up a
copy of _Ergo_ (an Objectivist paper printed at MIT at that time -- do I
show my age?), when a guy held up his own paper and asked, "would you like
to buy a Communist newspaper?" "BUY?!? BUY a COMMUNIST paper? Well,
[holding out my _Ergo_] would you like a capitalist newspaper? For FREE?"
