Perhaps they don't realize exactly what the DCM (department of
civilian marksmanship) really does. It holds a few shooting competitions
and distributes M1 Garand WWII vintage rifles to citizens who qualify
in the competitions for a low price, rifles which would otherwise be
*destroyed* in "Captain Crunch" a machine the government uses to
eliminate guns which the military no longer wants. (Aside from DCM, the
government long since stopped selling surplus military weapons to the
American public.)
I doubt if DCM costs much money to operate as they do get about $200 per
gun for guns which would otherwise be destroyed.
A better choice would be to eliminate BATF. Not only would you save tax
money, you'd also prevent the murder of religious living groups like
the Davidians and unarmed women like Vicky Weaver.
