Just as a followup, cause I had to run before I finished the last
post, I was not necessarily supporting these guys, but I did
want to see the reaction. They seem to have got the impression
I was more right wing than I am (this was much more dogma laden
than the thing I got last spring).
They are obviously pro right wing (some of the things on the
inserts were even worse than in the letter, references to the
"radicals of the 60's taking over" and so on.)
Nevertheless, if I ever join the ACLU, I might join these guys
at the same time to sort of balance out the effect. Also, I
see the ACLU slipping a lot lately which is sad, and there is
always the question of when to ditch for something else and when
to dig in. With so many good orgs out there, my policy to
date has been just not to join any but the ones I am most
or all in agreement with.
I have the first issue of their paper "The Defender" BTW if anyone
is interested in reading it. I will keep the copy of course, but
I can loan it or let you xerox it or something.
Just curious, but does anyone else out there with libertarian
organization connections get stuff like this? I seem to get
more than a good share of right wing stuff (once the Heritage
Foundation even sent me a condensed book for free). I can't
figure out for the life of me where I got on the list.
It is funny to get stuff from the Drug Policy Foundation and
the Heritage Foundation at the same time though.
