From Peter Everett:
The Libertarian Party needed 3% or more in a statewide race
in order to get major-party status.
Secretary of State (92% of precincts reporting)
Galvin(D) 986,314 55.4%
Chase(R) 727,799 40.9%
Everett(L) 65,407 3.7%
In 1996, the LP is entitled to a primary. LP candidates
will have access to the ballot without petitioning.
Massachusetts voters will have three major-party choices
on voter registration forms: D, R, or L & "unenrolled".
Legally speaking, Massachusetts is now a 3-party state!
Thanks everyone for your help!!
