In response to some comments I've received, I am changing the
administration of this list.
Let me first clarify the purpose of this list:
There are two groups on campus that appear to be concerned with the
current state of affairs and want to do something about it. They are
the SPPM (Student Party for a Progressive Movement) and the MIT
Libertarians. The Sppm advocates a greater attention to issues of
equality, distribution of wealth, access to health care, discrimination,
etc. The Libertarians are also concerned about these issues but from
the point of view of trying to increase individual freedom and allowing
the free market to solve these problems.
Since these groups are using approximately opposite methods to try to
achieve approximately the same result, among other things, the list
sppm-discuss is a forum for discussion of these issues. The goal is to
see what really *is* the best way to go about solving the problems we
face today.
I am assuming that all members of both groups are interested in
discussing this, since they are already spending time on these projects.
Therefore, I have already added each individual member of both email
lists to sppm-discuss. This allows anyone the option to delete
themselves by typing this command:
blanche sppm-discuss -d $USER
