I think MIT LP'ers might be interested in learning about the following
computer related issues:
- How to send private mail (PGP, encryption, history of it, etc.).
- How to send anonymous mail (remailers, servers, forging schemes?,
nettiqette).
- Intro to the Web, Usenet (probably for freshmen only, but recs on
"good" sites or "good" newsgroups are always useful, and a good
way to expose minds to debate).
- How to find "illicit" stuff on Usenet (perhaps a role for SAFE).
Also, things to avoid, and ways to be sane (i.e. don't set up a
porn distribution site and kill your access).
- Intro to various groups EFF, CLUM, (on-line and off).
Though I doubt we'd be expert enough to give anyone the "definitive
picture" on any one of these things, we might be able to do a
decent job of starting people off. This info could either be part
of an "event" or just a guide that we mail out perhaps "Underground
Guide to the Internet Anarchy" or something fun and subversive
sounding.
