Date: Wed, 15 Sep 93 15:06:34 EDT From: Mark Rosenstein <mar@MIT.EDU> To: layered-athena@MIT.EDU Present: Carla, Young, Ted, JJ, Mark Status: the software is just about ready. There is one serious bug (reactivate sometimes fails) and one feature missing (turning off email notification about a particular release), but both of these are expected to be ready. I don't know the current status of the documentation. I've been unable to contact Kevin in the last couple of days. We may have to hold things up a bit if the docs are not ready. Something else that must be done before test is to be prepared to help people install Ultrix on machines, since those testers internal to DCNS/CSS already have the Athena release on their machines and will have to start over. We've gotten a few responses to the call for testers, and more are expected. I hope to have about ten beta testers. I have started talking to Bruce about the HP/UX mini-port, which he wants to be able to deliver via Layered Athena. He may move forward on that soon, though we'll make sure that it doesn't get ahead of the beta test. I'm talking to the consultants this afternoon, I'll make sure that they're aware of the test and that some questions will be coming through OLC (the "private workstation" topic). JJ will talk to the network help desk staff to make sure that they're aware of what's going on. Everything seems well in hand for testing next week. We won't schedule the next meeting yet, until we see how testing goes. I'll keep the group informed through the layered-athena mailing list. -Mark
