Re: Narrow vs. Wide function prototypes

I don't particularly mind using wide types in the prototypes, except
that

1) folks building this should have the option to use narrow types, if
they care to so hang themselves
2) I'd much prefer to keep the proper typedef'ed name in the prototype,
to make the function use clearer.

There was some more discussion of this at the meeting yesterday, and the
consenus was essentially that narrow/wideness should be a config option.
There was some consideration of whether it really makes sense for some
things to be int16's vs. int32's; we didn't identify by name anything,
though.
