Larry is currently revamping metaconfig to match the version of Configure which currently comes with perl. Configure can deal with practically any unix or unix-derived system you care to throw at it, and metaconfig is a utility to make your own custom Configure for your system. Perhaps someone should look into it. And it doesn't require imake :-)
