This is a lofty goal and you're well on your way already. :)

Is there a chance that the goal could be thread-safe as well?  I know what
Ted's views about threaded applications are from LinuxExpo but I'm
wondering if anyone has talked about that.

I haven't looked at the current tree to see what an undertaking that would
be but I have to imagine it's a pretty big one.
