News to .bu.oz.au has been dead for the last four days so I am mailing
this reply in response to the post about the state of Bones at bu.
(I was notified of your posting by richard oxbrow.)

I have currently got a working version of Bones with des encryption setup
at bu. I still have to finish the rlogin -x and the rcp -x from
appl/bsd. When these are finished I will release the code.
I have applied Bones patches upto level nine.
I only recently started working on this code again when sics decided
to get some dec stations and I started looking into raw sockets and
how to set ethernet cards into promiscuious mode
(via an ioctl call in sunos and ultrix 4.0 I believe). Puts one off
having student labs on the same segment as servers :-(.

Since I hear kerberos 1.5 will be out soon I can only hope that there
are not major changes in the encrypting parts of the protocol :-).
I also hear that dec will be releasing libdes.a and libkrb.a with
ultrix 4 but that would not solve the problem of putting kerberos onto
non-ultrix hosts.
