asn1c seems pretty good, but it'd need some work (e.g., to add support
for RFC1510 BIT STRING).
Heimdal's ASN.1 compiler is quite good, IMO. It has a bug w.r.t.
implicit tagging, but it will be easy to fix.
I believe it will be easy to add C type controls to Heimdal.
I believe a type-mapping shim would be painful to write and maintain,
and will waste significant CPU/memory bandwidth resources.
