You should proably cc gnu on mail like this; I just found out about it
today.

I upgraded the gnu locker cvs to version 1.8.1 for all platforms on
June 14 (the day you sent your mail); the change was visible on June
15. The change was simultaneous on all platforms; Mark was probably
confused because he answered your mail on the 16th.

I know that cvs 1.7 was dumping core on the SGIs fairly often; I don't
know the cause of this problem, and how often it was due to AFS cache
corruption (a fairly common problem under at least Irix 5.2). Be sure
to "fs flushv /mit/gnu /mit/gnu/bin" and try again if you see cvs
randomly dumping core. If it still dumps core, and you can reproduce
it, send mail to gnu.
