A while back, Wayne Schroeder <schroede@SDSC.EDU> posted a
fairly detailed message of problems they have been having getting the
Beta4 to work on SGIs, Crays and Alphas. I posted a fairly detailed
reply discussing how changes in the code would probably solve their
Alpha problem, but commenting that we had almost certainly broken Cray
support with the pty rewrite. (Cray is very strange in how it handles
a lot of things, and as we discussed this summer, there were certain
places in the telnet code that I had to rewrite but I didn't know what
to do for Cray or Convex.)
I got personal mail from Mr. Schroeder today, asking if they
could obtain our current code to deal with some of these issues. I
would like to ask permission to cut a snapshot of the code and give it
to SDSC.
At the worst, they will be unsuccessful, or will submit bogus
patches that we can't use. Alternatively, they may be helpful in
porting the client code to some platform we haven't had much success
with.
