a) make clean does not get rid of verify.o and destest.o.
b) The Makefile.in I do not think with work if srcdir is somewhere else.
OTHERSRCS and OTHEROBJS need entries for verify.o and destest.o. (and .c).
I'm not sure if you want to build verify.o and destest.o all the time,
but I suspect you will need something for the --srcdir case.
