Hello,
I have two problems with kdb5_edit . I'm willing to do the work to
fix them but are they improvements that you all are interested in?
1) krb5_edit does not set the alt_salt and alt_key fields on added
principals and consequently they are not usable for V4 compatability.
kadmin on the other hand does do this setup correctly. I know the man
page says "V5 principal database" only.
2) xst4 should be clever about translating service names, e.g.
xst4 dark.sdsc.edu host
should put rcmd/dark into the v4-srvtab that it creates (and do other
translations, forward or back, for service name -- like
krb5_425_conv_principal). Otherwise I either end up with an rcmd
entry that I keep up to the kvno by hand, or I emacs the
/etc/krb-srvtab .
