I have just got Kerberos 5.4.2 built, and was trying cross realm
authentication between two realms. If the local realm is at 5.4.2
and the remote is at 5.4.1 it works fine. If the local realm is at
5.4.1 and the remote is 5.4.2, the 5.4.2 KDC produces:

Invalid message type specified for encoding while dispatching

5.4.1 to 5.4.1 works. I have not tried 5.4.2 to 5.4.2.

Is this a problem with the "hand coded" asn.1 encode/decode routines?

I will try to trace it early in the week.
