V5b3 vs V5b4 V4 backwards compatability problem

I have found that when using the v5beta3 KDC (running on Sun4.1.3), I can
successfully request and have granted V4 tickets from a V4 host/client
(in this case, a BSDI system with their distributed Kerberos code), as
long as the password was entered into the database with the 'cv4k'
command in krb5-edit.

When I use the v5beta4 KDC on the same database on the same host, the
V4 'kinit' which worked above always returns the information that the
Kerberos password is incorrect.

Both KDCs were built with KRB4 and BACKWARDS-COMPAT defined.

The beta3 package was built using the kerberosIV that was supplied
in the beta3 distribution. The beta4 package was built using the
ksrc.tar.Z that is in the 92xxxx directory on athena-dist.

Could this problem be caused by a difference in the KerberosIV
libraries and/or includes used?

Is this a known problem, or something new?
