We (i.e., OV Cambridge) also have a working version of the popper that
was shipped with krb5 beta 2; in fact, we submitted of our patches
back to krb5-bugs, so I don't know why they never made it into a later
release if they didn't.

Our popper accepts both krb5 and krb4 requests.

I've also got a version of movemail which fixes all of the bugs
mentioned in Bill's E-mail, and which may in fact be the version of
movemail included with later versions of Emacs. It supports krb5,
krb4 and normal POP. It does POP using a separate POP module that I
wrote at UCSC when I was adding POP to UCB Mail.
