I am no longer to reproduce the problem as I described it.
Rather, when I type the principal's password correctly, both kinit
and saslauthd succeed. When I give an incorrect password, both
log the error that I reported.
Arguably, the error message is not particularly good at indicating
that the password is incorrect.
