This is the old athena.dialup problem revisited. Basically, our telnet is significantly worse than the current Athena release; we don't even try to reverse resolve this.
If I can implement this tonight, I will check it in; as I will
demonstrate with attatchments, the problem is well understood and the
solution has been hashed out fairly well in the past.
