It turned out to arise from my incompetence.  I'd screwed up the
creation of the ACL file.  Sorry for the false alarm; kadmind seems to
work now.

(It would be nice, though, if kadmind were to give an error message a
little briefer and somewhat easier to interpret than a core file.)
