Date: Sun, 18 Aug 1996 23:47:05 -0400 From: Sam Hartman <hartmans@MIT.EDU> To: krb5-bugs@MIT.EDU It's my opinion that part of providing Kerberos4 compatability should be providing a Kerberos4 build environment. There are a lot of old applications out there--things like Zephyr, Lpr, backup systems, Cvs, etc, that do not support Krb5 directly. It is reasonable that a new site--a site that has never run Kerberos before might choose to install Kerberos V5 but still want to run these applications. Since we have all the necessary files to build these applications already in the source tree, it's kind of silly not to install them. Probably, they should be installed in $(prefix)/include/krb4 or $(prefix)/include/kerberosIV, not at the top of the include tree. --Sam
