Just to emphasize what Sam had said --- the argv[0] parsing hack was
something that was put in my one of Cliff's grad students when they put
in support for forwarding credentials. Yes, it was a bad idea. I
probably should have diked out all of that code when I integrated in his
changes many months ago.
