It is called ttyname.

Last summer I started to "refurbish" the David Borman telnet to work
with more platforms, and with non-US (Finnish, infact) Kerberos code.
The only system with major problems were AIX4 (it worked fine on
AIX3). (The sysmtoms beeing broken signal-handling, typing ^C would
hang the connection.) Gradually changing things back and forth, I
finally got it to work not too long ago. I don't know exactly which
changes made it work. There isn't any AIX specific stuff that I can
think of right now.

This taken out of a Kerberos4 package, and you might need some
violence to work without that. The Kerberos 5 code is probably broken
with respect to krb5b5 (I wouldn't know since it can't be exported
from the US :-)

You will at least be able to look at the pty stuff.
