Ezra, I noticed this message when you did the diffs:

RCS file: /mit/krb5/.cvsroot/src/include/krb5/config.h,v
rcsdiff warning: Unknown phrases like `dead ...;' are in the RCS file.

It is somewhat important -- it means that you're using an incorrect
version of RCS on these files. Please make sure you're using the right
one (probably by putting krb-tools closer to the start of your path
than watchmaker or the athena release, both of which have old RCS
implementations.)
