Perhaps for OSF/1 V1.3 (maybe later makes are fixed...). If you are
building in a tree other than the sources, the vendor make will compile
and function properly (i.e. VPATH works), expect make install will fail.
gmake works out of the box on this platform and should be used instead.
(The bug is an expansion at the wrong time wrt vpath)
