The three most significant "extensions" to kerberos in the OSF DCE are:
1. An RPC-ized interface, as well as the current one
-- *all* DCE services can be accessed uniformly via RPC
(We really believe in ours :-)
2. A definition of some of the V5 fields reserved for extensions
to allow piggy-backing authorization information along with
the authentication info.
3. An ACL manipulation protocol, which is exported by the file system,
name service, and user registration system, so that ACLs can
be manipulated by one set of commands, no matter what
service implements them.
So, they really are extensions.
