If anyone has a clear understanding of the problem or a
solution, please also forward the info to krb5-bugs@mit.edu. I am
aware of the problem but don't really have an AIX4 box to debug it on.
(The symptoms are similar enough with krb4 telnetd that I suspect a
solution for either krb4 or krb5 would be very useful to me.)
