Hi. I recently tried to make some modifications to a local V4 kerberos
server that required remaking the binaries and I've run into what seem
like major problems. Because of that, I'm considering upgrading to V5.
However, I've only recently begun work as sysadmin here, and the current
implementation was installed by someone who's been gone for several years,
and no one's touched it since then.

I'm not very familiar with kerberos at all. :( I'm learning as quickly as
I can, and this request for comments/suggestions is part of that.

I read in the faq in the main distribution site at mit that v5b5 is
backwards-incompatible with v4. Does that mean that I'd have to install
new versions of other software? Our primary kerberos client is a Xyplex
server that
uses kerberos, currently with a v4 server running on a sunOS 4.1.3
server. Will upgrading to v5b5 make the xyplex client unusable? If so,
what modifications are needed to make it usable again? Are there other
clients that won't work?
Is there a way to make the v5b5 server answer both v4 and v5 requests?
Are those requests different?

Any and all comments and suggestions are greatly encouraged and appreciated.

Thanks very much...
