There's a missing step in the README for the Kerberos 4 random patch:
After you run fix_kdb_keys, you have to kill and restart your kdc
(kerberos) 'cuz (I think) it has a cached copy of the old KDB key in
memory.  Symptom is mutually authenticated stuff (like eklogin to your
kerberos server:-) fails with a generic error.  At least, that was
what it took for me to get my realm back working after my 2:15am cron
job changed the keys.
