[6676] in Kerberos

I'm new to this whole kerberos thing, and I have successfully compiled both
kerberos 4 and 5b5, but I can't get either to work.
Kerberos 4 kinit gives me:
Kerberos Initialization
Kerberos name: genehkan
Password:
kinit: Time is out of bounds (krb_rd_req)
And kerberos 5 kinit gives me:
%kinit
Password for genehkan@EECS.BERKELEY.EDU:
kinit: Initial Ticket response appears to be Version 4 error while getting
initial credentials
So, what can I do? I compiled kerberos 5 with the --with-krb4=<blah> option
so I thought it would be back compatible, but that doesn't seem to work...
