If you set your system name to be a fully qualified name, that's what
gethostname() returns; if you set it to a domain-relative name, that's
what gethostname() returns. Put the full name in /etc/sys_id and
/etc/hosts.
No help on the rest, although the code should use _getpty() on
irix to get the pty.
