Hello again everyone...
I'm still going. Now I seem to be having trouble with 'ranlib'. According to
all the UNIX guru's ranlib is no longer used in Solaris 4.2, so when I run make
install I get the following error.

installing in lib...
installing in lib/krb5...
/usr/ucb/install -c -m 644 libkrb5.a /krb5/lib/libkrb5.a
/krb5/lib/libkrb5.a
make: Fatal error: Cannot load command `/krb5/lib/libkrb5.a': Permission denied
Current working directory /usra/home/MSCS/draco/kerberos/source2/src/lib/krb5
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `install'
Current working directory /usra/home/MSCS/draco/kerberos/source2/src/lib/krb5
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `install'
Current working directory /usra/home/MSCS/draco/kerberos/source2/src/lib
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `install'

Does anyone know how I can tell 'configure' what OS I'm using, or if it is safe
to use ranlib under Solaris 2.4? This gottcha is not as easy as the others I've
seen and we are all at a loss. Thanx.

Rich.
