I've just downloaded MIT's Kerberos V5 Beta 5 to a DEC Alpha running DEC Unix
(a.k.a OSF/1) Version 3.2. The configuration and build proceeded without
discernable error; however the "make check" proceeds normally for a time and
then displays the following message:
checking in tests/resolve...
./resolve
Hostname: enterprise
Host address: [correct address displayed]
FQDN: enterprise
Resolve library did not return a fully qualified domain name
You may have to reconfigure the kerberos distribution to select a
different set of libraries using --with-netlib[=libs]
I do not have DNS or NIS running, and I obtain the same result with or
without "domainname" set. If I append a domain to the hostname in
/etc/hosts, "make check" then returns a fatal error.
This is my first attempt at installing Kerberos. I've read the FAQ and I've
used archie to search for additional info and have perused a web site or
two, but I've not had any luck. Can any enlightened soul tell me what's
wrong (if anything) and/or how to fix it?
Thanks!
