That sounds like the original MIT code. CNS uses a new library
(-lkstream) which provides an interface to an encrypted stream, and
rcp and rlogin use it. (sadly, rcp -x and rlogin -x don't use
compatible modes -- one pads the last block from the left, the other
pads from the right...)
