I notice that John Studarus' Unofficial Kerberos Documentation page
(http://pscinfo.psc.edu/~studarus/Kerberos/services.html) includes the
following for inclusion in /etc/services.
kerberos 88/udp kdc
kerberos 88/tcp kdc
kerberos5 88/udp kdc
kerberos5 88/tcp kdc
If I include this section in /etc/services, I see the following when I
try to start the Kerberos daemon:
# /opt/krb5/sbin/krb5kdc &
22356
# krb5kdc: kerberos5/udp service unknown
krb5kdc: Unknown code kdc5 1 while initializing network
If I comment out the first two lines, e.g.
#kerberos 88/udp kdc
#kerberos 88/tcp kdc
kerberos5 88/udp kdc
kerberos5 88/tcp kdc
then krb5kdc raises without error messages.
What price am I paying for not running with the two vanilla "kerberos"
entries?
