Anyone using kerberos and hesiod?

I am trying to set things up so that password file info is distributed
by hesiod and authentication is done by kerberos. Unfortunately, hesiod
doesn't appear to come with replacements for various things like
getpwent, and i can see that this would seem to be a difficult thing,
possibly involving a zone transfer. However, without it hesiod won't
be able to fully replace /etc/passwd. Can anyone point me in the right
direction?
