Um, no.
1) Most of the "adverts for health care and other irrelevant things" are
posted to comp.protocols.kerberos as part of a spam to many newsgroups and
then gatewayed to kerberos@mit.edu. On the other hand, the filtering I
mentioned takes place *in the other direction*, i.e., from kerberos@mit.edu to
comp.protocols.kerberos. There is no filtering in the gateway from the
newsgroup to the mailing list.
2) Even if there were such filtering, or if you really meant that you wanted
to filter irrelevant messages to the mailing list from being gatewayed into
the newsgroup, how exactly would you propose the gateway detect "irrelevant"
messages to filter? It's rather easy for a computer to conclude, "This
message is empty." It's rather more difficult for it to condlude, "This
message has nothing to do with Kerberos." Do you expect me to teach the
gateway to read and unerstand English?
