Several positions are available at the Information Sciences Institute
of the University of Southern California (USC/ISI) for work in the
Global Operating Systems Technology Group (GOST group), led by Dr.
Clifford Neuman. The GOST group has taken a leading role in the
development of security, information, and computing infrastructure for
the Internet, and is developing tools to support electronic commerce.
Among the systems developed by members of the GOST group are Kerberos,
NetCheque, NetCash, Prospero, and the Prospero Resource Manager (PRM).
Technical positions are available at the research assistant, senior
programmer, and research scientist levels for continued design and
development of these systems, and for other projects in the area of
distributed and mobile computing systems. Candidates familiar with
Kerberos, other security tools, the world wide web, other information
access services, electronic commerce, and PVM are particularly sought.
Candidates must have experience working with large software systems
written in C under the Unix operating system, and experience with
Internet protocols. Successful candidates will be self motivated and
able to work with limited supervision. Applicants MUST include a

The senior programmer positions require a Bachelor's or Master's
degree in Computer Science or related field, plus experience working
with large software systems outside of classes. A Ph.D. is required
for the Research Scientist positions. Research assistant positions
require acceptance to the Ph.D. program at the University of Southern
California.
USC/ISI is a computer science research institute that is part of the School
of Engineering at the University of Southern California. ISI is located off
the main campus in Marina del Rey. For the senior programmer and research
scientist positions, salary depends on qualifications and the positions
