Update on CNS KRB4 on Linux

Just a followup on the Cygnus linux port of KRB4.
After such nice discussions with Mark off line I decided to
spend some time finishing the Cygnus installation on my P5-
linux platform. Great news on CNS KRB4.
Everything worked well after fixing the -lfl.a thing. My fix
was a hackers kluge, but now what the nice folks at CNS are
aware of the little gotcha, I feel very confident that KRB4
will compile well for linux users soon.
The CNS HTML documention on setting up kerberos 4 is great and
it took little time to get it up and running. Pretty exciting
stuff. Guess we'll purchase another linux box to be a future
AS/TGS platform. Nice job on CNS docs, Mark, BTW.
Well, all good things must come to an end, and since my aim is
to install KRB5 not KRB4, it's back to the drawing board.
Will follow up with a post on KRB5, which is a completely different
story. Sorry to cast unnecessary haze on the linux port by
mentioning the problems in the KRB4 distribution from CNS and
MIT in the same thread. I'll be more specific on which
distributions, etc. and not work on two or three at the same time
to keep things less confusing for me and everyone else.
Finally, I am playing with the new *KRB5* distribution and will keep
the people who care about linux up-to-date. For those who beat
me up privately over linux, I will make sure future posts have
the words LINUX in the subject so the 'linux nay sayers' can
avoid wasting their valuable time. Obviously, there are people
in this group who have negative opinions about linux. I do
not share their views. Recently one of my clients deployed
around 40 linux boxes in their enterprise to augment their
mix of HP-UX, SunOS, SCO, etc. There is a place in the sun
for linux too :-)

For the funny person who took a shot at me privately by flaming:
"english is my second language isn't it?" Just for you, I'll
quit managing (over the net) the direction of a large internetwork
locations scattered over the globe, do systems engineering buy
decisions on millions of dollars of UN*X platforms, routers,
etc. a year, work on overall architecture issues for a large
organization (very, very large), lead the effort to build a
new IP NOC for an incredible bureaucracy, and manage some
pretty independent employees as well as stop doing 'fun stuff' in my
test bed.........just to make sure every i is dotted and t
is crossed on all of my sometimes zillions of e-mails :-) ;-)
