In article <3odku5$na4@wsrcc.com> wolfgang@wsrcc.com (Wolfgang Rupprecht) writes:
How do the folks at Athena setup the xdm logins on the student
workstations? Do the workstations really have a global /etc/password
file that duplicates the kerb database (or do they have a hacked xdm
"greeter")?
A special xlogin program written here gets the initial tickets, and
gets passwd information from hesiod, inserting it in the local
/etc/passwd file, which is cleaned up periodically. There aren't 9000
entries in every passwd file.
