Lenny,
You were right, I didn't have logging turned on.
I'm still having trouble with the IRIX stuff (I suspect that my
version of IRIX is mis-installed).
However, I got logging turned on on the LINUX machine
and when I attempt a kinit on the IRIX machine (with the
LINUX machine specificed as the server for the realm),
it gives the error about being unable to locate any KDC for
the specified realm.
The log on the LINUX machine, though, says this:
[I've broken the lines up to make it somewhat
easier to read]
May 3 12:48:50 boone krb5kdc[1127]: AS_REQ: ISSUE: \
authtime 799519730, host 192.204.1.
1, boone@PREP.NET for krbtgt/PREP.NET@PREP.NET
May 3 12:48:51 boone krb5kdc[1127]: DISPATCH: replay found \
and re-transmitted
May 3 12:49:16 boone last message repeated 4 times
Now, this suggests to me that the krb5kdc on the LINUX machine
is getting the request for the tgt, sending the tgt to the IRIX machine
and then the IRIX machine is attempting to retrieve the ticket over
and over, with the same request.
How far off am I?
FYI: this message was composed on the LINUX machine, which
is "slipped" into the IRIX machine for network connectivity.... so
no need to worry about them being unable to communicate with
each other bi-directionally....
