Barry,
I was very disappointed to see that you missed several key updates that I
had published to our listing in the Kerberos FAQ. If you remember, I had
sent you (and the newsgroup) a complete update on 4/6/95 and asked that
it be entered in the FAQ and republished as soon as possible.
It appears that you selectively edited our listing to delete some of
CyberSAFE's key product differentiators. I respectfully request that you
ask permission before making edits in the future.
I also ask that you update it now, so that anyone accessing the FAQ is
getting the correct information.
Missing added value statements or comments are:
Single Signon (kinit integrated with the workstation login)
Complete V4 Interoperability
DCE Interoperability
Multiple Realm support within a KDC
Kerberized applications and commands, such as telnet, r-cmds, and ksu
Enhanced kadmin functionality
Embedded systems Kerberos toolkit (reentrant, threadsafe, and small)
We had deleted the following line:
Kerberos 4 compatibility for rlogin, rcp and rsh
Our v4 interoperability goes way beyond the client utilities and includes
seamless authentication for a v4 or v5 principal from a v5 database,
acceptance or v4 or v5 tickets by our kerberized application deamons,
and our clients can initiate v4 service requests against existing v4
deamons. We can also service v4 kpasswd requests, including enforcement
of password configuration rules. Not to mention v4 database conversion, etc.
I also noticed that you deleted all references to ports underway, with a
future available date. If you have changed the "rules" about what the
vendors can say in their "advertisement" part, please let us know in
advance.
Bob
